Philippines: Dog Lexa saved from rubble

20.08.2026 A two-year-old Golden Retriever named Lexa was rescued alive in General Trias, Cavite, Philippines, after being trapped under thick mud and landslide rubble for three grueling days following heavy monsoon rains.
Rescuers heard her faint bark beneath the wreckage and safely dug her out.

The Incident: A severe monsoon-triggered landslide struck the family’s property on August 7, 2026, burying parts of the home under debris.
The search: While evacuating, the family lost sight of Lexa and feared the worst, but returned to the site when they heard faint whimpering and barking.
The Outcome: Local authorities and volunteers spent three days carefully moving heavy mud and concrete until they pulled Lexa free.
She emerged largely uninjured, exhausted, and was successfully reunited with her family.
