24.06.2026 A security dog collapsed at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, a victim of heatstroke. It died an atrocious death from heat, being left neglected by agents in a van transformed to oven.
These images were filmed on Saturday, June 20, in Paris, when temperatures in the capital were nearing 35°C (95°F).
“What’s even more revolting: the security guards present asked witnesses not to film. They wanted to cover up this barbarity, protect the negligent owner, and stifle the scandal. They are complicit” reads the press-release of the BB Foundation.

At the foot of the Eiffel Tower, a dog locked inside the car died. In the midst of a heatwave, in a car transformed into an oven, the animal had been abandoned to endure the extreme heat. Barely able to stand, it had to be sprayed with water in an emergency by horrified witnesses.
According to the animal welfare association S.E.P.A. (Rescue, Investigation, and Protection of Animals), the animal was left in a parked car, ignoring the heat.
S.E.P.A. has taken several steps to obtain information to establish the circumstances of the incident. It also announced that it will file a complaint with the public prosecutor.
In a press release dated June 22, the association stated that “an investigation has been opened by the police station of the 7th arrondissement and that the perpetrator has been identified.”
An appeal for witnesses has been launched to obtain further information.
It is obvious that in heat cars become ovens very quickly. After just 20 minutes on an +26C degree day, the inside of a car can hit +43C°. After 40 minutes, it hits +48C degrees, and after an hour, it can hit +50C degrees.

Cars can quickly heat up to dangerous temperatures, even with a window cracked open. While anyone left in a parked car is at risk, animals are especially at risk of getting a heat stroke, and dying.
The images quickly went viral: an extremely weak, panting dog lying on the ground. In just a few minutes, the temperature inside a closed car can exceed 50°C (122°F). Dogs don’t sweat. They can’t regulate their body temperature. They slowly die, their organs failing, their breathing blocked, their brains coagulating, reads the press-release of BB Foundation.
“In 2024, the French Dog Training Federation (FBB) appealed to the then Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, about the dangers of the misuse of dogs by security personnel, especially during the Olympic Games when demand had increased significantly”, the BB Foundation continues.
“Exploitation and intensive training: Their emotional and physical well-being is often neglected in favor of performance. Fatigue and exhaustion: Long working hours without adequate rest can lead to serious health problems.
“Questionable practices and businesses: Breeding farms are proliferating to meet the demand from agents, with no information available about what happens to the dogs once their mission is over”.
The incident happens amid discussions of police cruelty in France.
